Road to West Maui Opens Tomorrow 8/16

Governor Green announced today that the road to West Maui, Honoapi'ilani Hwy at Ma'alaea will open to all motorists daily from 6am-10pm. 

Access from 10pm-6am will be limited to West Maui residents, first responders, and West Maui employees. 

State officials are urging the public to only access West Maui if it is necessary to live, work, or volunteer.  Motorists should expect delays and some areas are still without power so please drive with aloha and compassion. The impact zone remains off-limits.

SBA to Open Business Recovery Center in Kihei

The U.S. Small Business Administration has partnered with the Hawaii Technology Development Corporation and the Hawaii Small Business Development Center to open an SBA Business Recovery Center in Kihei on Wednesday, Aug. 16. The Business Recovery Center will be open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm and Saturdays from 10am-2pm. 

According to Center Director Wayne Wong, Maui Small Business Development Center business advisors can provide business assistance to clients on a wide variety of matters designed to help small business owners re-establish their operations, overcome the effects of the disaster and plan for their future. “Services include assessing business working capital needs, evaluating the business’s strength, cash flow projections, and most importantly, a review of options with the business owner to help them evaluate their alternatives and make decisions that are appropriate for their situation,” he said.

 

DMV Opening Lahaina Satellite Office

The County of Maui Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing’s Lahaina Satellite Office will be available beginning Wednesday, August 16, to assist West Maui residents whose Hawaiʻi driver’s licenses or Hawaiʻi State Identification cards have been lost or destroyed by wildfires. The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call (808) 270-7363.

 

New Donation Center

A new central donation site has been opened at the vacant space at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center (by the Kane Street entrance).
